Up early to attack the top of the View Point. Up we went. Made it to the top and took some photos &; then headed back down for breakfast. With our tummy’s full we were off to grab one of those beach shacks at the Western end of Ton Sai Bay. That’s a 20 minute walk. When we arrived the guy who told us to come back said he would check, but all of a sudden he only had rooms for 2200 baht. Stuff you mate. We had to make tracks to the other end of the island to see if we could get one of the other rooms. After a brisk walk east and waiting and waiting, somebody arrived at the shop. Tracey busted a deal for 3 nights at 1600 baht a night for a much better room than the shacks we had seen. The room was good but the toilet smelled when you had a shower. In hindsight 5 days on Phi Phi was probably too many but this room had an excellent view over the harbour and Wi Fi so we spent sometime under the air-con and caught up on some business stuff.

The beach out the front of the room was ok but you had to watch out for the boats and once again when the tide went out you could not swim there as it became oily from the boats. We made a shade house on the beach. There is surprisingly no breeze on Phi Phi or a lot of the other islands for that matter. Wandering around town during the middle of the day is not a good option. Better to find a cool bar or some shade, kick back and enjoy the view. If you’re lucky you might get to see a few White Pointers! Occasionally you get to see a couple of females ones together but they are rare. Met a couple of people at dinner (Martin & ?) as we went to a place that was run by an Aussie guy and it had free wi-fi. On the way home the pub was having a promotion “free buckets” at 9.30pm. Lucky us it was 9.35 we went and grabbed our free bucket of vodka and managed to stay awake until we drank it and then wandered to our room. It was actually a bit of a task to get to our room if the shop was closed. We had to open the shop go through the show room and up to the room. Interestingly the shop owner’s brother slept in the shop as ‘security’. He set up a little tent on the showroom floor. The owner slept in a backroom on a mattress on the floor.!!
