Checked out of the overpriced hotel and had a run in with the staff as they wanted me to pay for a bottle of water. I refused as they we were supposed to get 2 bottles included in the room. Anyway that went on and on. So they did not make any friends after that. Our ferry to Phi Phi included pickup so we hung around in the hotel foyer until we got our pickup. The ferry got us into Phi Phi around 2.30pm. The hotel people were there to pick up our bags in a cart as there are no vehicles on the island. We followed the guy through the narrow streets in the blistering heat until we came to some steps that had a sign saying View Point. The skinny guy had a friend waiting and they grabbed our 40 kilo’s of luggage and headed up the never ending stairs. Man this was bullshit it was pretty much a vertical climb for a zillion stairs. When we finally got to reception we were stuffed. But wait there is more stairs our room was another 3 levels above that.!! When we finally made it to the room we were dripping sweat like you would not believe and they took us into the room that had the sun on it all afternoon so it was like walking into a sauna. The room was nice but they had 2 single beds instead of a double. I tried to use this as an excuse to get our money back so we could find a room in the town. After much argument I managed to get a 200 Baht a night refund so we decided to stay. We had to have cold showers to cool down as the air con was battling to cool the room down. When it finally cooled down we just hung around and drank some beer until it was dark. We headed into town after dark, had some dinner and just wandered around. We had to attack the stairs on the way home so there was no use getting drunk as you would not make it home!!
