2 nights in the room that had air-con but no power to run it was enough! Man it was unbearable. Even though we were not far from the beach there was no breeze!!! So off we went and actually got a better room  (a thatch covered hut with an outdoor bathroom) closer to the action and across the road from the beach. But best of all they had a generator and guaranteed the power would be on all night to run the air-con, they turned it off between 1.00pm and 5.00pm to conserve power but as long as it went all night we were in. Only an extra 50,000 rupee a night that’s about $6 but this included breakfast!! And it was good, banana pancakes, fruit and coffee delivered to the door.
